Penumbra’s Fife Youth Project provides the following services:
One to One Support
Based on the Solution Focused Brief Therapy model, we offer one to one support for young people aged 12 to 21 living in regeneration areas in Fife.
You can expect an information meeting and up to 6 support appointments with your worker. One to one support meetings are held at various venues for ease of access, including our office base in Kirkcaldy, schools and colleges throughout Fife, and other appropriate venues such as GP surgeries and social work offices.

Community Outreach Work
The Project provides informal advice, support and signposting for all young people in Fife through a presence at local community venues. Project staff will have a presence at a community venue twice a week.
Positive Engagement for More Vulnerable 16 to 21 year olds
The Project provides outreach group work sessions for more vulnerable young people in homeless accommodation. Project staff can work in partnership with homeless accommodation units, residents and other Projects to provide sessions that are relevant to young people’s current issues. Outreach sessions will also enable young people to signpost into the Youth Project for one to one support, or on to other organisations

Awareness Raising, Mental Health Promotion and Anti
Stigma Work
The Project works Fife wide, at events where positive mental health messages can be promoted, as well as providing workers to speak and answer questions on the subject of mental health and wellbeing at school assemblies.
The Project also holds information days, produce leaflets and newsletters with the aim of raising awareness and reducing stigma.

Volunteering Opportunities
The Youth Project provides quality voluntary opportunities to enable people to experience the workplace, and youth work in particular.
The volunteer support will provide an informal service for young people based on one to one work to build self esteem, encourage positive choices, and signpost to identified next steps such as college or work.
Volunteers will carry out work with young people where the more intensive one to one support has left off, or where one to one support with a worker is not chosen. The volunteers will build on work by supporting young people in daily activities, such as going to a college open day, doctor’s appointment or exercise class, in order to encourage the process of developing independent and positive choices.
