Staff at the Moray Mental Health and Wellness Centre in Elgin’s Batchens Street are saying #PantsToPoverty by taking part in the Smalls for All campaign.
Smalls For All is a Scottish charity which collects and distributes underwear to help women and children living in extreme poverty in Africa and the UK.
The centre, which is run by mental health charity Penumbra, is acting as a drop off point for anyone wishing to donate items. Smalls for All are looking for brand new women’s pants and new or ‘gently worn’ women’s bras, brand new children’s pants.
The Centre’s Support Manager, Pauline Forbes, is also encouraging people to like its Facebook page. Pauline commented:
“Here at the Centre we really feel that we’re at the heart of the local community and we’re here as a drop off point for anyone wanting to donate items for the Smalls For All campaign.
“We really hope as many people as possible will come together to get involved by saying #PantsToPoverty and take the chance to say hello to our team at the same time. We know that mental health is linked to issues around poverty so supporting Smalls for All seemed like a really simple way of getting involved in something positive.
“Having easy access to basic items of clothing is often something we take for granted, so we hope in doing our bit we can help tackle extreme poverty and raise awareness at the same time.”
