SDS evaluation report released

Self directed support (SDS) became law on 1 April 2014. It allows people to choose how their support is provided, and gives them as much control as they want over their individual budget. Put simply, SDS is the support a person purchases or arranges, to meet agreed health and social care outcomes.

Penumbra has today (13 October 2017) published a report on how the organisation has implemented SDS to date.

The analysis found that of the 1600 people supported by Penumbra each week, approximately 210 accessed support via SDS.

To encourage people to access support through SDS Penumbra has developed resources for staff and the people they support, including:
