Peer Worker Fiona Gray based in Glasgow shares her experience of signing up to Walk All Over Cancer.
I wanted to get fit for summer and loose the extra pounds I’d put on during those winter months. So I signed up for Walk All Over Cancer. This involved walking at least 10,000 steps every day throughout March and get my family to sponsor me to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
I managed between 10’000 and 19’784 steps each day and I raised £105 for charity.
Some days were more challenging than others especially during the heavy snow fall in March. The snow was up to my waist and I managed to walk to my mum’s house and back which was only half my steps. The rest had to be done walking round my house to some nice upbeat tunes.
I actually found the whole experience very good for my mental well-being. Walking helped reduce my stress levels and I was able to appreciate nature and my surroundings every day in the fresh air.
