Penumbra is focused upon innovative ways to support people with mental health issues to move towards recovery. We rely on public support to fund our current services for individuals all over Scotland and to develop new projects in the community.

There are many ways to help Penumbra and every donation counts. For example, only £17 could provide a teenager with a one to one counselling session with a member of our Self Harming Team. £20 will pay for a home visit from a Penumbra support worker, focusing on improving a person's home, opportunities and sense of empowerment.

You can support Penumbra by:

  • donating directly at www.justgiving.com/penumbra
  • using www.everyclick.com/penumbra as your online search engine
  • collecting loose change in a Penumbra home money box
  • making a regular gift with Give As You Earn or a standing order
  • taking part in one of our fundraising events
  • supporting us through school, work or university as your nominated charity

Bighearted Scotland

Penumbra is a member of Bighearted Scotland, a consortium of 6 Scottish Charities fundraising together. By working together, these smaller charities can achieve great results and offer impressive fundraising events in aid of all of their great Scottish causes.  The member charities are:

  • Penumbra
  • Momentum
  • Epilepsy Scotland
  • Scottish Native Woods
  • ClicSargent
  • Alcohol Focus Scotland

The current big event for Bighearted Scotland is The David Livingstone's Footsteps Challenge which happens from 5th - 15th November 2009.  Participants will be raising sponsorship to tackle several challenges in Zambia. They will also take part in a local community activity (last year we helped to refurbish the dormitories of a school for children whose families were affected by HIV AIDS) - as well as rafting, trekking and canoing the Zambezi.
